Enlarging screen font
Submitted by Diana Hampton
This is for everyone over 40 whose eyesight isn't what it used to be.  It's very useful when trying to read small e-mail print.
If you hold down the Ctrl key on your key board and turn the small wheel in the middle of your mouse, the print size will change - it will either get larger or smaller - depending on which way you turn the wheel.

Shortcut to Centering

If you want to center a paragraph by using a keyboard shortcut, simply press Ctrl+E. Bingo! The paragraph in which the insertion point is located is centered the same as if you clicked on the Center tool.

Inserting PDF file into Powerpoint
Submitted by Danna Smith 2-5-08

Convert PDF file to Word/Excel/PowerPoint document

1.     The program adobe reader is needed to perform this task or a scanner that can scan a document into WORD, PowerPoint, or Excel.  Crystal Courtouise can help with the best practice for scanning.  My scanner doesn’t work at this time.

2.     Open the pdf file that you want to convert and minimize.

3.     Open the document program you want to paste the information into.  (WORD, EXCEL, POWERPOINT).

4.     In Adobe Reader, change the resolutions to 200%

5.     Click on the snapshot icon to change the cursor to a crossbeam.

6.                 Select item you want to copy and paste.  Place the cursor on top left corner and click and drag until you have copied the entire thing.  (This may take a few tries because it sounds easier than it is when you start dragging without letting go until you have the complete area copied)

7.                 A small window will appear on screen stating you have placed on clipboard.

8.                 Open program or document where you want to paste information into.

9.                 Point and paste.

10.            Now you can manipulate the information/picture/document.

11.            Save the newly created document where you will remember where it is.

12.            Close all programs

Power Point Show

Submitted by Tonda Stewart

I have a best practice to help save time for your executive (or anyone) when they have a power point presentation to run and you are not there to do so.   It will also make a good impression for you as well.

Want to open a power point presentation directly into a slide show, do the following:

-          Create presentation

-          When you save the presentation:

o       Click Save As

§         Name presentation

§         Under the save as type:  select “PowerPoint Show”

o       Save

-          Close presentation.  The icon will change

-          When you open up the document, the presentation will automatically go into the slide show.

-          The slide transition is defaulted to advance on click of mouse.

-          If you want to change the slide show transition:

o       Before you save it as a power point show:

§         Go to “slide show”

§         Slide transition

§         Advance slide

§         Chose automatic and the amount of time you want to transition to next slide

§         Check apply to all slides

§         Then save as a “power point show”
